FLOAT NOTES

WE'RE SPECIAL IN OUR OWN WAY
SOME PEOPLE THINK WE FIT A BOX
THAT WE’RE ALL MADE TO MEASURE
THAT DIFFERENCES ARE NOT ALLOWED
IN ORDER THAT WE’RE CLASSED "A PLEASURE"
WE SHOULD ALL BE A CERTAIN "SHAPE"
WE SHOULD FIT A MOULD
WE SHOULD BE KIND OF SIMILAR
OR LIFE’S RECEPTION CAN BE "COLD"
IT’S ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE GENUINE
WHO WILL TAKE THE TIME
TO LOOK BEYOND THE OUTER SHELL
AND SEE OUR INNER SHINE
THEY JUDGE US WITHOUT KNOWING
AND REASONS THEY INVENT
NOT REALIZING WE’RE ALL UNIQUE
AND EACH ARE HEAVEN SENT
I CAN SEE THAT YOU ARE SPECIAL
BUT CAN YOU SEE ME JUST THE SAME?
OR DO YOU TURN AWAY FROM ME?
AND CAST SOME SILLY BLAME….
ABOUT THE WAY I LOOK TO YOU
OR WHAT YOU THINK OF ME
I TOO AM ON MY LIFE-PATH
TO BE THE BEST THAT I CAN BE
YES EACH OF US IS QUITE UNIQUE
YET WE SHARE A COMMON THREAD
IT’S ACCEPTANCE AND TRUE LOVE WE SEEK
IT’S REJECTION WE ALL DREAD
SO OPEN UP YOUR HEART A BIT
COS LOVE SURE FLOWS BOTH WAYS
WHAT YOU GIVE OUT WILL BOUNCE RIGHT BACK
IN SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS

If I had my child to raise
all over again,
I'd build self-esteem first
and the house later.
I'd fingerpaint more
and point finger less.
I would do less correcting,
and more connecting.
I'd take my eyes of my watch,
and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes,
and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious,
and seriously play.
I would run through more fields
and gaze at more stars.
I'd do more hugging
and less tugging.
